My Top 5 Favourite Christmas Campaigns🎄
Christmas is a time for joy, laughter, food and drinks - and campaigns.
Many, many campaigns.
Often, Christmas campaigns cover more than just one area, it is common to see them incorporate advertising, marketing and PR all into one campaign. A triple whammy, you might say.
It can be easy to get lost in the number of campaigns we see at this time of year. The good, the bad, and the ugly all come out at Christmas and it's sometimes hard to see the point in any of them when you're being bombarded.
That is why I thought I would do a little round up of my top 5 Christmas campaigns this year!
1. Barbour's "One of a kindness" campaign
This year Barbour have taken everybody's favourite British bear in a film aimed at showcasing the impact that small acts of kindness can have at this time of year.
The ad shows Paddington searching around London for the perfect gift for his grumpy neighbour Mr Curry, before settling on a Barbour Re-loved jacket - A jacket that has been returned to Barbour and refurbished.
This campaign works so well, as it pulls at the heart strings of the public while publicising their Re-loved initiative which aims to extend the life of their jackets and helps the company with their sustainability efforts.
You can find more information about the One of a Kind-ness Christmas campaign on their website.
2. John Lewis & Partners' "The Beginner" campaign
John Lewis & Partners' Christmas campaign is probably the most highly anticipated by the public each year, and they rarely disappoint.
This year, their campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the amount of children who are in care at Christmas, and how important foster carers can be to the life of a child.
If you've seen their TV ad, I'm sure you got a bit teary eyed. I know I definitely did. As it shows a soon-to-be foster father attempting to learn to skateboard before the family's new addition arrives.
He does this so she will feel at home when she arrives, and I'm even getting a bit weepy just writing about it.
Not only is the campaign cute, it also works in conjunction with the charities Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland who work with children in care, and care leavers, to ensure they experience safe and happy childhoods, and always have the opportunity for their voice to be heard.
If you haven't seen it, you can watch it, and find out more about the campaign here.
I dare you to watch it without crying.
3. Disney's 'The Gift' campaign
For me, Disney's Christmas campaigns never miss, and this year is no exception.
This year's campaign is, like many years prior, in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish foundation, and has followed a series of adverts that have been seen this year.
In this final instalment to the "From Our Family To Yours" series, we see a family preparing for a new arrival. While the daughter of the family is not sure at first, we see her gradually get used to the idea of a baby joining the family. Eventually she loves the baby enough to pass her favourite Mickey Mouse toy onto her.
This advert really is heartwarming, especially for a huge Disney fan like me. The fact that it supports such a great cause is a really good marketing choice. People already rarely need an excuse to shop from Disney, but for customers to think they are donating to a worthy cause by shopping with Disney, that will almost certainly gain them more custom.

4. TK Maxx's "Christmas Nailed" campaign
TK Maxx have gone down a different route to other campaigns this year, and attempted to position themselves as THE go to place for low-cost but high quality gifts amid the UK's cost of living crisis.
Very few people have managed to escape the grips of financial pressures this Christmas, so the idea of being able to give gifts that are trendy and high quality, while still saving money is definitely something that a lot of households will be able to get on board with.
The TV ad is very simplistic with its dialogue, as the male character complimenting the female character (Sam's) choice of gifts but telling her she "shouldn't have spent so much", to which she simply replies "I didn't, I just went to TK Maxx". With an upbeat backing track and images of Sam skipping and dancing around the streets, this ad definitely seems to aim to make the best of the difficult situation we are all facing this year.

5. Amazon's "Joy is made" campaign
Ask almost anybody, and they'll probably tell you that Amazon is the go to place for just about anything you could ever need. This is a widely held opinion, and I think Amazon have really honed in on that this year.
This year's ad shows a child who yearns to experience the snowy scene he sees in his snowglobe. Seeing him carry the snowglobe everywhere with him, his father decides to take matters into his own hands, and we see him ordering equipment on Amazon, before escorting his son to their greenhouse. Here we see he has set up the very scene from the snowglobe, for his son to experience in real life. This really pushes the idea that with Amazon, you can do almost anything.
This ad is a really clever advertising technique, as it takes a well known company (who probably don't really need an advert, as their sales will boom at Christmas either way) and shows them in a heartfelt light, proving to customers that they too can create magical scenes for their loved ones, as long as they shop on Amazon.

There are so many more festive campaigns out there that I've been absolutely loving this year, but I cannot possibly fit them all into one post.
That being said, I'd love to hear about other people's favourites. Which campaigns have you been loving, or even hating? Has anything stood out that you think has worked particularly well, or not so well, this year?
Let me know by leaving a comment, sending over a message, or hit me up on socials! I'd love to hear all of your thoughts.
